Surah Al An'aam Notes (128)

(128)And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term, which you appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."

(6:128) The Wrongdoers are the Supporters of Each Other
Mentioned now is a dialogue before a gathering of Jinns and human beings on the plains of the Resurrection where Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala will address the Shayateen among Jinns telling them about their excessive role in misleading human beings.
Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala commands the Prophet sallAllahu `alayhi wa sallam to convey and warn that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will gather the Jinns and their loyal supporters from mankind who used to worship them in this life, seek refuge with them, obey them and inspire each other with adorned, deceitful speech.
How do the Jinns mislead people?
The Shayateen inspire long hopes for this world in the hearts of mankind, and beautify their bad deeds for them. The person is misled by Shaytan and consequently this person now misleads others. For example, a person is frustrated with his life. He has financial constraints and cannot honor his responsibilities. One day he decides to kill his family. And then from the fear of being punished by court he kills himself too. He harms himself and other people. He has become a prey of Shayateen.
Similarly, a person is so in love with a particular action that because of it he leaves his Salah which is an obligation upon him. Shaytan has beautified his bad actions for him and he obeys the Shaytan in them. He will not only stray away himself but also set bad example for other people.
When people have the same goal and purpose they cooperate with each other. The goal of Shayateen and the Shayateen among mankind was same and therefore they misled other people. The human beings followed the dictates of Shayateen so much that they forgot all about death and the Hereafter.
To such people, Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala will say, “The Fire is your residence…” Mathwa [مَثْوَاْis a place where someone stays for a long time. The Shayateen and their allies were together in the dunya and then will be together in the Hereafter. We learn through ahadeeth, in the Hereafter a person will be with those whom he loves. Therefore, we should take note of who do we keep company with.
The allies of Shayateen will only come out of the Hellfire if Allah wills. Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala is Wise in dealing with His creation. He doesn’t do zulm on His servants. He is Aleem – fully aware of each and every action that people do. He knows how much advantage people have taken from the Jinn [in terms of magic] and how much advantage the Jinns have taken from the mankind.
Lessons:
– We learn that majority of people are under the influence of the Shaytan because the term istakhthartum [اسْتَكْثَرْتُم] has been used.
– Using the Jinns to get any kind of benefit is incorrect whether it was to help someone or harm someone. Sometimes people go to a person who has Jinn under his control and ask them to cure them of an illness that they have been suffering from. And sometimes they approach the Jinn for harmful purposes. In the Ayah, it was said the Fire is their abode. Any action that leads to Hellfire is a major sin and should not be practiced. One should only seek help from Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala. Our Deen is complete and Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala has taught us proper method through the Sunnah of Rasoolullah regarding our day-to-day matters and that is what we should follow.
– Before cooperating with someone in a matter see what they are doing. If they are doing a wrong deed we would not wish to have a share in that.
